MacIntyre Lake Lodge

Light at the End of the Tunnel

To say it is not easy to construct a brand new lodge and guest cabins in the middle of the northern Saskatchewan wilderness, is truly an understatement! With no lumber yard close at hand, no roads leading to the site, and the limited payload of the only way in (aircraft), construction logistics were often a challenge.

Over the course of the summer, Gerry Bolger made countess trips to Saskatoon for supplies. Imagine the sinking feeling when, upon arriving back at camp after one of these "lumber runs", it was realized he had forgotten something!

For the most part, the weather cooperated, however, the mosquitoes loved those long, hot, calm days, relentlessly swarming and feasting on the construction crew.

Through it all, the "boys" worked on, making slow, but steady progress. The goal was to have all phases of construction completed by mid-October. As the saying goes "the best laid plans of mice and men".....The Saskatchewan fall saw all the buildings erected, with some interior finishing remaining. With the official MacIntyre Lake Lodge opening slated for June 9, 2006, there is plenty of time remaining next spring for the finishing touches.

Seven long, hard months have passed in the legacy of MacIntyre Lake Lodge. In this time, supplies were hauled in during the bitter northern winter, excessive snow cover made ice-out late, it seemed like spring would never come, and most often, it seemed like the "end was never near".

Was it worth it? The answer is a resounding "yes!". MacIntyre Lake Lodge is now a reality, laying on the shores of true "Virgin Waters", waiting to become home to eager anglers from across the world.

Welcome to MacIntyre Lake Lodge!
